Ghana mourns the loss of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, a renowned technological icon, philanthropist, agriculturalist, and industrialist, who passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 77. Known affectionately as “Kantanka, the African Star,” Apostle Safo leaves behind a remarkable legacy of faith, resilience, technology, and community service.

Apostle Safo’s life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence and his passion for innovation. As the founder of the Kristo Asafo Church and the Kantanka Group of Companies, he made significant contributions to Ghana’s industrial and technological advancement. His pioneering work in automobile manufacturing, engineering, and agriculture earned him national and international recognition.
Beyond his entrepreneurial achievements, Apostle Safo was dedicated to giving back to his community. He funded philanthropic initiatives, providing scholarships for needy students, infrastructure for rural areas, and support for vulnerable groups. His selfless acts earned him the title of “a father to the fatherless”.

Apostle Safo’s daughter, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, paid tribute to her father, describing him as “a true genius, the beacon of hope for many, a father to the fatherless.” The family has requested privacy during this period of mourning, and funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
