Ghana Declares Monday, March 31st and Tuesday, April 1st as Public Holidays for Eid-Ul-Fitr
The Government of Ghana has officially declared Monday, March 31st, 2025, and Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate Eid-Ul-Fitr, a significant celebration in the Islamic calendar.
This announcement was made in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601).
Eid-Ul-Fitr, which falls on Sunday, March 30th, 2025, or Monday, March 31st, 2025, marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting and spiritual reflection for Muslims worldwide.
To enable the general public to fully participate in the celebrations, the President of the Republic of Ghana has declared the additional public holidays.
As a result, Monday, March 31st, 2025, and Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, will be observed as public holidays throughout the country.
This declaration provides an opportunity for Muslims and non-Muslims alike to come together and celebrate the joyous occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr.
During this festive period, people typically engage in prayers, charity, and festive meals with family and friends. The holidays will also provide a welcome break for workers and students, allowing them to relax and recharge.
